NATURAL PINE NEEDLE RIMS: THREE TECHNIQUES
by Karen Kirkland, Southwest GA.

First, we will dye our gourds with “The Gourd Dye.” While it is drying, we will gather our own longleaf needles, which grow and fall in abundance on the park. You will learn several ways to weave your rims. Easy and fun!

Required Supply List: everyone must bring a gourd bowl, medium-sized, cleaned and ready to dye.

You can ask questions of Karen at chehawknapper@bellsouth.net or at 229-432-7109.

GRETCHEN RIM
by Charlotte Durrence

Learn to weave an interesting rim using reed. The completed rim will roll back over itself for a sturdy basket-like finish. The instructor will supply the reed in smoked or natural color.

Required Supply List: towel, bucket for soaking the reed, and one cleaned sturdy/thick gourd bowl with a six-inch diameter rim opening.

Charlotte will be happy to answer any questions at gourds1@aol.com.
